Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of our ongoing commitment to promoting the health and well-being of our students, the Wellness Committee would like to remind families about healthy snack options for school. Providing nutritious snacks not only supports your child’s growth and development but also helps them stay focused and energized throughout the day.
Here are some ideas for healthy snacks:
- Fresh fruits (apples, bananas, grapes, berries)
- Vegetables (carrot sticks, cucumber slices, cherry tomatoes)
- Whole grain crackers or granola bars
- Low-fat yogurt or cheese sticks
- Nuts or seeds (if permitted by classroom guidelines)
Please avoid snacks high in sugar or processed foods, such as candy or chips, as we aim to create a health-conscious environment for all students.
Thank you for your support in helping us build healthier habits in our school community!
Sincerely,
WCS Wellness Committee

Athletics Update:
The girls varsity soccer game tonight will now be played in Andover at 5pm.
Attendance matters! Students who regularly attend school achieve higher scores than students who don't attend. Regular attendance & punctuality are important life skills. By 6th grade, chronic absenteeism becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school. Missing just 2 days a month means a child misses 10 percent of the school year!

Tax credits help working taxpayers. However, there are many taxpayers who are eligible for these tax credits but don’t claim them. IRS estimates that while four out of every five eligible taxpayers claim the Earned Income Tax Credit, there are millions of eligible taxpayers who do not. Find out more: https://5il.co/2x9bc

WCS Spirit Week is Sept 30-Oct 4th! Let's go AW!
Over the last few days, I’ve been notified by many District Superintendents of other BOCES that they were dealing with online snapchat posts stating that there would be a shooting at a BOCES facility in their regions. The threats were not credible and there were no incidents.
Today we received notice from the Wellsville Police Department of a post involving our Belmont CTE Center. According to the report, the post stated there would be a shooting at our Belmont CTE Center today.
As you know, whenever a situation arises such as this, it must be taken seriously. We have notified law enforcement and are working with the County Sheriff’s Department and State Police to determine the source of the post.
Although law enforcement has informed us that they are confident this is not a credible threat, we are taking additional steps at the Belmont Center to ensure the safety of our students and staff. These steps include additional monitoring, as well as having a police presence at the Center. In an abundance of caution, we are also moving to a heightened level of awareness in our other facilities.
An important message from Mr. Scott Payne,
District Superintendent and Chief Executive Officer,
